DAN FLAVIN'S 'RETROSPECTIVE' AT LACMA
DAN FLAVINâS âRETROSPECTIVEâ AT LACMA
avv/gs set 6-14 #703280
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. â The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) presents the exhibition, âDan Flavin: A Retrospective,â on view through August 12.
âDan Flavin: A Retrospectiveâ is the first comprehensive exhibition devoted to artist Dan Flavinâs full career. Regarded as one of the most innovative artists of his generation, Flavin is best known for creating art almost entirely of commercially-available fluorescent light tubes. Although he used common materials, Flavinâs work is complex in design and often relates to specific architectural contexts.
Co-curated by Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg director, and Tiffany Bell, director of the Dan Flavin catalog raisonne, the exhibition features more than 40 of Flavinâs seminal fluorescent light works. Also presented is a special reconstruction of the corridors made for the E.F. Hauserman Co showroom, formerly located at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
The museum is at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard. For more information, www.lacma.org or 323-857-6000.
