The Middle Gate Elementary School hosted its annual PTA-sponsored laser light show for the students to celebrate the end of the school year on Tuesday, June 16.

The show was put on by Prismatic Magic, a countrywide laser light show that travels to schools, according to the group’s website.

Eric “Myster-E” Shandroff with Prismatic Magic was introduced to the assembled students for the celebration in the school’s gymnasium.

“Prismatic Magic is a laser light show,” said Mr Shandroff. “It’s fun, inspirational, and entertaining for the kids.”

Mr Shandroff went through about two months of training to learn how to operate the equipment involved in the show, such as projectors and ceiling light projectors, he said after the show.

Students clapped and sang along to some popular songs like “Pocket Full of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield, “Good Feelin’” by Flo Rida, and “Fireflies” by Owl City.

Claire DeSisto’s third grade class was just one of the many classes that enjoyed the show. Two of Ms DeSisto’s students, Mikayla Mauren and Morgan Costaloos, both said that the show “blew them away.”

“We thought it was so ‘pop!’” said Morgan. “It felt real, especially with everything on the ceiling.”

Prismatic Magic was founded in 2002, and is described as being “laser scientists and teachers who have pooled our talents to develop a revolutionary learning environment by combining science, technology, art, and music,” according to Prismatic Magic.

“The kids love it; they’re learning and having fun,” said PTA member Debbie DeBlasi.

Another one of Ms DeSisto’s students, Emily Heahler, agreed.

“It’s nice that they put together a show for us,” said Emily. “And I like that there was science in it.”
