Head O’ Meadow’s Math Olympiads, athletes, and geography program participants were among some of the students honored during the school’s awards assembly, held on Tuesday, June 17.

“Congratulations boys and girls. That was an excellent, great accomplishment,” Head O’ Meadow Principal Barbara Gasparine said to the students who earned recognition in the school’s Math Olympiads program.

When it was time for Head O’ Meadow parent Kristen Mattera, who oversees the school’s geography program, to announce the program’s participants, she named students who passed a number of the program’s tests, naming different countries, regions, and landmasses.

She also honored the PTA volunteers who helped make the geography program possible.

“Congratulations to all of our geography winners,” Ms Gasparine said after the certificates for the program were handed to the students.

The school’s community team members were also awarded pins in the shape of stars for their efforts as “student leaders” throughout the 2013-14 school year.

Music teacher Cynthia Holberg recognized each member of the fourth grade, all of which participated in chorus this year, before announcing the assembly would sing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” as send-off for the fourth graders.

“You always have friends at Head O’ Meadow,” Ms Holberg told the graduating fourth graders.
