Newtown may have gotten burned a few decades ago with our fireworks displays, but that doesnât mean there arenât plenty of opportunities for residents to see pyrotechnics in the night skiesÂ
The majority of the fireworks presentations in upcoming weeks are, of course, in honor of Independence Day. One show, which happen to be tonight (June 27), also coincide with an annual city-wide festival: The 2008 Barnum Festival Fireworks will begin around 9 pm at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. Rain date is Sunday night, same time.
One of the largest fireworks displays in the state each year, the Barnum event is simulcast on radio station 99.9 FM. The public viewing area has moved to West Beach within Seaside Park. Call 203-367-8495 for additional information or just head toward Bridgeport and follow the crowds.
