Mr and Mrs Michael Sliva

Alexandra Megyeri Roy of Newtown and Michael Patrick Sliva of Monroe were married on May 24, 2008, by Father Joseph “Skip” Karcinski and Father John P. Roy. The noon ceremony took place at St Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Monroe. A reception followed at The Spinning Wheel Inn in Redding.

The bride was given into marriage by her parents, Maria and Frederick Roy of Newtown. While the ceremony was officiated by Father Karcinski, he was assisted by Father Roy, the bride’s uncle and godfather, and the pastor of adult ministries at Calvary Free Evangelical Church in Trumbull.

For her wedding day Alexandra chose a white satin scalloped gown and a sequined veil. Her flowers were hot pink roses complemented by lime green spider mums.

Anna R. Pister of Newtown, a friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a long watermelon-colored gown and carried a bouquet of white and hot pink roses also complemented by lime green spider mums. Bridesmaids were Danielle D. Sliva and Jacqueline K. Sliva, sisters of the groom, both of Monroe. They wore shorter versions of watermelon dresses and carried white and hot pink roses with lime green spider mums.

James “Jimmy” Sliva, brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Alexander Wu of Boston and John Stanley IV of Seymour, two of the groom’s friends.

Alexandra is a member of Newtown High School’s Class of 2005. She is now a student at Sacred Heart University.

Michael graduated from St Joseph’s High School in Trumbull in 2004, and then from Fairfield University earlier this year.

The Slivas are temporarily living in Schenectady, N.Y. She is finishing her studies at Sacred Heart University, and he is in the financial management program at General Electric.
