John Philip Duffy, 67, died June 20 at Waterbury Hospital. Mr Duffy was born January 27, 1941, in New York City, son of Michael and Mary Anne (Mone) Duffy.
He had lived in Inwood, N.Y., Newtown, and Southbury. For more than 25 years he was the owner of the Southbury Travel Service and the Laurel Taxi Service, based out of Newtown.
He was an active member of St Teresaâs Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Pro Life Ministries, and the Brothers of Faith Group. He loved fishing, and was actively involved in the lives of his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, treating them each like they were his own children.
He is survived by a daughter, Margo Colarossi and her husband, Greg, of Seaford, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret (Peg) Daniels and her husband, Richard, of Woodbury; a brother, Michael Duffy of Waterbury; his godchildren, Michael Duffy, Kaylee Duffy, and Emma Kate Duffy; nieces and nephews, Tom, Laurie, Michael, Cathy, Tricia, and Teresa; great-nieces and -nephews, Jade, Kaylee, Meaghan, Siobhan, Morgan, Brian, Aidan, Thomas, Fionna, Emma Kate, Shaelinn, Tobias, Delia, and Seamus. He was predeceased by a nephew, Brian Comerford.Â
A funeral mass was held at St Teresaâs Church, Woodbury, June 23. Burial was in the New North Cemetery Woodbury, next to his late nephew, Brian Comerford, and his mother.
