Golf Tournament Slated To Benefit Scholarship Fund
A golf tournament, which will benefit an educational scholarship fund created in the memory of a deceased son of a former Newtown police detective, is scheduled to be held next month in Trumbull.
The Brian Tvardzik Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, July 28, at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull.
All proceeds of the tournament will be donated to the scholarship fund at Trumbull High School. The fund provides financial help to two deserving graduating seniors who are seeking college degrees in the education field.
In January 2005, Brian Tvardzik, who was an 18-year-old student at Southern Connecticut State University, died after a snowboarding accident at the Jiminy Peak ski area in Hancock, Mass.
Brian Tvardzik was a son of Sergeant Robert Tvardzik, who then headed the Newtown Police Departmentâs detective division, and Denise Kraycar Tvardzik, of Trumbull. Robert Tvardzik retired from the police department in July 2006, after more than 32 years of police work.
