Designerbodies Advances To Championship Game

In the U14 softball playoffs, designerbodies advanced to the championship game with a pair of postseason wins this past week.

designerbodies 16, Valley Provisions Boars Head 8: The winners used a balanced offense and solid defense to win their first round playoff game. Rhea Schneider pitched two strong innings and recorded four strikeouts; Morgan D’Avola and Ashley Perry also pitched well. Schneider also drove in a run with a big hit, as did Nora Murphy and Caitlin Dowling. Defensively, Annamarie Lewis made a nice catch in the field and Murphy played a solid game behind the plate.

designerbodies 16, Newtown Savings Bank 11: designerbodies won their fourth game in four days by beating Southbury in oppressive heat to advance to the championship game. Amanda Rowan’s leaping catch started an unassisted double play and helped designerbodies snuff out a last-inning rally.

Katelyn Dandrea and Elizabeth Grimes both had two hits to lead the winners and Rowan knocked in two runs with a long triple. Rhea Schneider and Ashley Perry both pitched three strong innings and Nora Murphy made several nice plays in the infield.
