Cancer Support Programs Ongoing At Danbury Hospital
DANBURY â The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital will host a âLook Goodâ¦Feel Betterâ Workshop sponsored by the American Cancer Society (ACS) Monday, July 14, from 10 am to noon. The free workshop takes place at the Praxair Cancer Centerâs conference room, located on the first floor of the Stroock Building, Locust Avenue entrance; valet parking is available.
âLook Goodâ¦Feel Betterâ workshops focus on teaching female cancer patients beauty techniques that will help restore their appearance and self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Trained volunteer beauty experts from the community lead small groups through practical, hands-on experience regarding makeup techniques, skin care, nail care, and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans, and scarves. Workshop participants will each receive a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop.
In addition, weekly breast cancer education classes are now taking place at The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 pm
Classes are open to newly diagnosed woman with breast cancer, family and friends, and are conducted in the Ruth C. Donovan Resource Room Library, located on the first floor, Stroock Building, Locust Avenue entrance.
Class participants learn about âwhat happens nextâ, including pre- and postoperative care, information regarding chemotherapy and radiation therapy, lymphedema precautions and exercise, relaxation techniques, as well as information about local support services, and the opportunity to meet with a breast cancer survivor.
