Thanks For The Memory

By R. Scudder Smith

Amber and Patrick – Volume I: The Early Years, played to a full and enthusiastic house on Monday evening at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South, New York City. From the opening number, “Anything Goes,” to the final encore, “Thanks For The Memory,” the audience embraced the show with laughter and applause, along with an occasional “bravo.”

To further introduce the performers, both Newtown residents, Amber Edwards is the wife of author Justin Scott. She is an accomplished musician, singer, and gardener, and has experience in the film industry. Patrick Brady is well-known in the field of music, is currently the musical director for The Producers and can be found most evenings in the orchestra pit at The St James Theater. This fall he will be spending time in England working on the London production of The Producers.

Amber Edwards and Patrick Brady have known each other for the past 21 years and have performed together during that time. Their timing is exact, the selection of music rings familiar notes, and from the overture on the audience is in their camp. There were “scouts” in the audience checking out the show, and there is little doubt that there are bookings in the future.

If they happen to be in your neighborhood, don’t miss them. And how we are looking forward to Volume II.
