GOP Seeks Local Candidates

The July caucus for the Newtown Republican party will be held on Wednesday, July 16. There are still vacancies to fill. Residents who are registered Republicans can apply to fill these vacancies.

The following boards will have vacancies: Board of Finance; Legislative Council, Districts 1 and 2 and possibly District 3; Board of Assessment Appeals; Planning and Zoning Commission; Planning and Zoning alternate; Police Commission.

Residents who are unsure of which council district they live in can find out by calling the town’s clerk’s office at 270-4210 or the registrar of voters at 270-4250. Residents who are interested in any of the positions should call Owen Carney at 426-3831, Barbara O’Connor at 426-1515, or any member of the Newtown Republican Town Committee.
