Arthur W.         Covill, Jr

Arthur W. Covill, Jr, of Brookfield, devoted husband of Barbara (Johnson) Covill, died June 19 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 75.

He was born in New Milford on February 29, 1928, son of the late Arthur Sr and Laura (Darling) Covill. He attended Everett Mass Trade School.

Besides his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara, he will be missed by his son, Wayne Covill and his wife, Lynne, of Newtown; two daughters, Susan and her husband, James Novicky, of Bethel, and Sharon and her husband, Major Charles Martin, of Washington, D.C. He was a loving “Poppy” to his ten grandchildren, William and Jacob Covill, Danielle, Amy, and Andrew Novicky, and Charles, Christopher, Beau, Benjamin, and Savannah Martin. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold Covill of Warren and Kenneth Covill of Florida.

Mr Covill was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Army. He later worked as a truck driver for M.J. Stavola and the State of Connecticut. Upon retiring in 1990, he was a driver for the MCCA, and worked part-time for the Brookfield Board of Education. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Brookfield.

Mr Covill loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed woodworking and crafting toys and folk art for his friends and family. He was an avid fan of UConn Women’s Basketball and the Connecticut Sun.

Funeral services were held June 26 at the Congregational Church of Brookfield with Rev Wiley officiating. Burial was in Central Cemetery with full military honors.
