The Fireside Innâs large dining room was filled to capacity June 24 for the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospiceâs 14th annual fundraising breakfast.
The event is the local chapterâs main fundraiser of the year to provide in-home care and support for persons in the final phases of incurable illness. The breakfast raises about $15,000 each year.
Janet Hovious and Marg Studley co-chaired the event, and the planning committee included Marilyn Alexander, Ellyn Gehrett, Helen Herbold, Colleen Honan, Shirley Johnson, Pat and Ken Stroud, Marie Sturdevant, Barbara Webb, and Donna Williams.
The Rev Gregory Wismar, pastor of Christ The King Lutheran Church, opened the breakfast with prayer, and guest speaker Lynn Buttner, a breast cancer survivor, provided an inspirational message.
Raffle prizes were donated by Arts Festival Artists, Curves for Women, Ethan Allen, Friends of Hospice, Georgeâs Restaurant, Good Taste, Hair Company, The Inn at Newtown, Karenâs Fitness Studio, Lexington Gardens, McLaughlin Vineyards, Mona Lisa Restaurant, Sew En Vogue, Stacy Olszewski, Swenson Granite Works, Taunton Liquor, and The Villa Restaurant.
