Antiques Market Returning Saturday

The second annual Newtown Antiques Market will be Saturday, June 27, 10 am to 5 pm, on the grounds of the beautiful Fairfield Hills campus.

The one-day, festive, outdoor show and sale benefits Newtown Historical Society and its mission of preserving historic structures, mounting noteworthy exhibits, and promoting local history.

Frank Gaglio of Barn Star Productions, based in Rhinebeck, N.Y., said he and his company are thrilled to bring back the event.

“The fundraiser for the society debuted to over 900 attendees last June,” said Mr Gaglio. “Newtown is conveniently located right off Route 84 and easily accessible from New York City, Westchester County, New Jersey, and southern New England. Come join us for a day of discovery and fun.”

Exhibitors will be coming from several states presenting displays of period and vintage furniture, fine and costume jewelry, garden decorations, glass, fine and folk art, pottery, wrought iron, prints, Oriental rugs, and more.

Dealers who have committed to the show, as of June 23, are Baker Antiques; Kay Baker; Dennis & Valerie Bakoledis; Bleeker Street Antiques & Collectibles; Chimney Corner Antiques; Chinalai Tribal Antiques from Shorham, N.Y., with ethnographic textiles and tribal and village antique art from mainland Southeast Asia and China; Emily’s Attic, LLC; et cetera; Fair Trade Antiques; Lisa & Steve Fisch Antiques; The Finisher’s Touch from mid-Hudson Valley, which specializes in wood furniture refinishing, reupholstering, repairs, antique restoration and custom window treatments.

Also, Olivia Garay Vintage Retro; GPSF Antiques, from Glenham, N.Y.; Kristin Grievo; Anne Hall Antique Prints, Sturbridge, Mass.-based dealers specializing in old nature engravings and lithographs; Ironstone Antiques from Hardwick, Mass., with a focus on Americana country antiques and primitives from the 18th and 19th Century, and also 19th Century painted European accents; Jaffe & Thurston, an antique and estate jewelry specialist with rings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, earrings, charms and more, based in South Kent.

Additionally, Just For You; Just For You; Koblenz & Co.; Lara Joyce Antiques; Little Journeys Antiques; Jim Megura; Palisades Trading Co.; Marilyn & Ron Saland; SandMark Antiques; Sentimentally Me (Patrice Heisler) of Redding, with vintage and new fabrics and notions, vintage homewares, and handmades for the home; Soheil Oriental Rugs, a Manhattan-based dealer with Persian, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, European, American hooked and Caucasian rugs; Joy Starr Enterprises; Vintage Wears & Old House Parts; and Wordly Things.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Also joining in the activities will be Newtown Lions Club, who will be selling tickets for its annual Mustang raffle.

The show will be held rain or shine on the grounds of Fairfield Hills, 3 Primrose Street.

Parking is free and plentiful, and the show is on grass manageable for most handicap visitors. Requested donation is $8 per person.
