Reelection Quicksand

(The following letter to US Senator Christopher Dodd has been received for publication.)

Senator Dodd:

I realize, as do you, that you are in trouble regarding your reelection next year. I realize that is why you are running TV ads touting what a great job you are doing.

I realize that is why yesterday I received a 10-inch by 8-inch full-color postcard touting what a great job you are doing to make “Health care more affordable for the people of Connecticut.”

As usual, I looked at the postage endorsement expecting to see this blatant extravagance was paid for by the US government. That wasn’t the case. Nor was this needless waste paid for by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, nor the Dodd Re-Election Committee.

No, it was “paid for by America’s Pharmaceutical Research Companies and FamiliesUSA.”

How dumb can you be? It’s exactly this “he’s in the pockets of the special interests” that’s gotten you into reelection quicksand.

I’m a lifelong Democrat, but Senator, you’ve got it all wrong...on so many levels.
