ONEX Wins Spring Baseball Title
ONEX defeated Rohrbacher Construction 12-2 to win Newtownâs 10-year-old spring baseball championship this week.
Mitchell Savoca and Spencer Johnson combined to pitch a two-hitter over four innings. After giving up an unearned run on an attempted pickoff play at third base in the top of the first inning, ONEX rallied for eight uncontested runs over the next two innings to coast to victory.
In the home half of the first inning, two-out clutch hitting by Dylan Tyrrell and Andrew Hubina each platted two runs. In the second, ONEX rallied for four additional runs, all coming again with two outs. Luke Reppucci walked and hits by Matt Carino, Timmy LeBlanc (second hit of the day) and Savoca. ONEX added a run in the third inning on a base hit by Matt Campbell and concluded the scoring in the fourth inning as Carino, Johnson and Savoca connected for hits.
Tucker Kistner fielded a ground ball and tagged out a runner attempting to take third base and Jack Riley had a great game behind the plate.
