A celebration of life for Jonathan Alan Black will be held Friday, July 3, from 6 to 11 pm, at the Monroe Firehouse, Station 1, 18 Shelton Road (Route 110), Monroe. The family invites friends to share fond and funny memories, and to enjoy food and drinks, including the keg of beer per Mr Blackâs wishes.
Mr Black, 46, of Cary, N.C., died March 18 after a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Born January 12, 1963, in Norfolk, Va., he grew up in Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Shaffer Black; two daughters; four brothers, Julius, William and Jeffrey Black of Newtown, and Michael of Fairfield; two sisters, Jana Emmerthal of Sandy Hook and Julia Miller of Raymond, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr Black was a fun-filled person who lived every moment to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, golfer, and family chef.
