Clarity And Fairness

To the Editor:

I would like to publicly thank Selectmen Paul Mangiafico and Herb Rosenthal for conducting the town hearings regarding the termination of Carolee Mason, Newtown animal control officer, in an extremely professional and sensitive manner. It was clear from the first hearing that business would be conducted to ensure clarity and fairness to all parties, creating an atmosphere which prevented emotions from erupting, which otherwise could have been the case.

The decision which was reached reminds us that although at times everyone makes mistakes, most people do deserve a second chance. That is a good and healing message to send to the community. Kudos to Paul and Herb. Suddenly is does seem nicer in Newtown.
