Auditions For Dramalites Children’s Summer Theater

WASHINGTON — The Dramalites of Washington will bring the renowned Missoula Children’s Theatre Summer Residency Program back to Washington this year for the fourth time.

This summer’s production will be Hansel and Gretel, to be performed by 50 to 60 area young people. There will be open auditions on July 8, followed by a week of rehearsal and two performances of the original musical on Saturday, July 13, at Shepaug Valley High School.

Auditions will be open to young people from kindergarten through 12th grade, and there are roles suited for all ages, skill and experience levels. Older students are encouraged to try out for the leading roles. The older students will also be able to act as assistant directors.

These productions are supported by generous donations to the Dramalites from area individuals who share the belief that theater can develop valuable life skills in children as they experience the joy of performing. The charge for those cast in the show is $10, with a maximum of $30 per family.

Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theater, has been touring extensively for over 29 years from Montana to Japan. It will visit nearly 900 communities this year with 27 teams of tour actor/directors. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales with a twist on the stories everyone loves and knows.
