Martocci Honored By Counseling Center At Annual Meeting
John Martocci was named the recipient of the 2001 H.D. Award by the Family Counseling Center (FCC) during its annual meeting June 25 in the community room of the C.H. Booth Library.
FCC also elected new officers and members of the board of directors, and recognized volunteer contributions to the center.
The H.D. Award was established in 1990 and is given each year by the chairman and executive committee of the board of directors in recognition of outstanding volunteer contributions made by an individual or organization on behalf of the FCC. The award was named after H.D. Bassett, a former treasurer and board member as well as first recipient.
John Martocci is a former board member, past chairman, and supporter of the FCC. As a member of the board of directors, he served in many capacities during his six years. He has been a town crier at the Holiday Festival, pizza deliveryman and server for the Family Pizza Night, and master of ceremonies at various FCC functions.
New officers elected to serve a one-year term of office are Glenn Nanavaty, chairman; Bruce Walczak, vice chairman; Edward Kelleher, recording secretary; Elise Trock, assistant secretary; John Banks, treasurer; and Robert Braddock, assistant treasurer.
The FCC also recognized the contributions of Mary Harrington Tomasiecwicz and Connie Huntington, who co-chaired the 15th annual Holiday Festival last December. The festival raises the most money for the center and its programs.
Plans are already underway for this yearâs festival, which will take place on December 2. Volunteers are needed for the following committees: house tour, craft show, antiques show, festival of trees, Victorian Tea, music, public relations, gala, and New England Café.
Members elected to serve two-year terms on the board of directors ending June 2003 are John Banks, Robert Braddock, Albert Desrosiers, Edward Kelleher, Glenn Nanavaty, Nancy Obremski, Barbara Pisacreta, Laura Santarpia, Michael Schwarzchild, Nancy Sedensky, Elise Trock, and Bruce Walczak.
Returning directors with terms that expire June 2002 are Rory Chapdelaine, Kim Connolly, Joe Humeston, Connie Huntington, Gretchen OâShea, and Mary Harrington Tomasiewicz.
Outgoing board members Jim Gaston, Tom Murtha, Elaine McClure, and current chair Nancy Haas were recognized for their contributions.
