Book Discussion Of 'Accidental' Memoir
Book Discussion Of âAccidentalâ Memoir
BETHEL â The next monthly meeting of Bethel Public Libraryâs book discussion group will focus on Are You Somebody?, by Nuala OâFaolain. The group will meet on Tuesday, July 17, from 7:30 to 9 pm. New members are always welcome.
The second eldest of nine children, Ms OâFaolain was in her 40s when she began working as an opinion columnist in Ireland. She was approached to put together a collection of her columns. Instead, she found herself writing what turned out to be her âaccidentalâ memoir.
As with Frank McCourtâs Angelaâs Ashes, Ms OâFaolainâs memoir, which also deals with drinking, violence, religion, poverty, and sexual relations in a country without birth control, is a story of healing and forgiveness.
The discussion will be moderated by the libraryâs own Lauren Baratz-Logsted, who is a reviewer for Publishers Weekly, a freelance editor and writer. Copies are available at the library. Registration program is suggested.
All programs sponsored by Bethel Public Library are free, open to the public, and meet accessibility requirements for the disabled. Those needing special accommodations should contact the library as soon as possible; call 794-8756.
