Emmett Driscoll, 76, of Fleischmanns, N.Y., and previously of New York City, died peacefully, June 22, at his daughter’s home in Sandy Hook. He was born April 20, 1937, in New York, son of Mildred and Timothy Driscoll.

His daughter, Katherine Sullivan, of Sandy Hook; his son Michael Sullivan, and his wife Siobhan, of Woodside, Queens; three adoring grandchildren; his brothers, Gene and Timothy, and his wife Peggy; his sisters Pat Schiller and Sheila Driscoll; 16 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law survive Mr Driscoll. He also leaves behind numerous friends, many dating back to childhood. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Katherine “Kay” (Vaughan), and his brothers Brian and Donald.

Mr Driscoll served in the Army, and graduated from Iona College. He retired in 1990 as senior vice president of the Bank of New York.

The Driscolls, while living in New York City, also began spending more time at their 40-acre farmhouse in Fleischmanns. This is also where Mr Driscoll found his second love, his John Deere hydrologic tractor.

He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. The Driscolls shared freely with all. No one was a stranger for long in their company or their home. Their Annual St Patrick’s Day party and parade, the weekend before St Patrick’s Day, was not as widely recognized as the New York City parade, but double the fun for those in attendance. Busloads of pipers and drummers, a green line down Red Kill Road in sun, snow, or rain, enhanced the activities. Sit down dinner for 65 was not unheard of, along with more than 50 pounds of corned beef, and dozens and dozens of Irish soda breads shared.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 25, from 5 to 8 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 26, at 10:30 am, in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y., will follow.

Mr Driscoll loved St Rose School, where both his granddaughters graduated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Rose School, 40 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470.
