Hound Hike
This Sunday
DANBURY â The Danbury Animal Welfare Society invites all animal lovers to join a âHound Hikeâ on Sunday, June 27, at Tarrywile Park. Registration begins at 11 am with a guided hike beginning at 11:30 am.
Everyone is invited to bring along their dogs and enjoy the great outdoors with other animal lovers. Leashes are required. Games, refreshments, and treats will also be available. Danbury Animal Welfare Society volunteers will bring along dogs that are waiting to be adopted into loving homes. A suggested $10 per family donation is requested. All proceeds go to help needy animals in the greater Danbury area.
âThe hike will give local animal lovers a chance to enjoy the park with their dogs, while showing support for their local animal shelter,â said Barbara Rodriguez, co-president of the Danbury Animal Welfare Society. âThere are so many homeless and needy animals right here in our area, and the hike is a great opportunity for people to enjoy some time with their dogs while helping less fortunate animals at the same time.â
Danbury Animal Welfare Society maintains an animal shelter in Bethel, and performs adoptions of dogs housed at the City of Danbury Dog Pound. Danbury Animal Welfare Society volunteers rescue hundreds of companion animals every year from abandonment and abusive situations. For more information, visit www.daws.org.
