Charities Seeks Foster Parents
BRIDGEPORT â The Adoption Program of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County is seeking foster homes in the greater Bridgeport area to provide temporary care for infants.
âWe are seeking individuals who have the ability to love and care for an infant on a temporary basis until the child is placed with an adoptive family or returns to the biological parents,â said Amy Zajac, director of the Catholic Charities Adoption program.
She said that children will stay up to three months in a foster home. The agency is looking for stable homes that will provide a safe and caring environment for the children. All foster parents must undergo a home study and a records check. Parents are paid a daily stipend to provide room and board and are responsible for the overall care of the child. Health care and other expenses are covered through the agency.
The Catholic Charities program provides traditional, open, identified, and foreign born adoption services. It also provides home studies, right-to-know information, programs to empower adoptive parents, and educational forums for prospective adoptive parents.
Catholic Charities has been placing children from China since 1995. To date it has placed more than 60 children with Connecticut families and has had many families return for a second adoption. The program is open to people of all faiths.
