To Perform At St Rose
St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown will host The Celebrant Singers, an internationally-known Christian music ministry, in a communitywide concert at 7:15 pm on Monday, July 8. Concert attendees will be treated to contemporary Christian music, praise and worship, personal testimony, and ministry.
Featuring ten singers and a 12-piece orchestra, The Celebrants will inspire and bless as they share the Gospel through a musical celebration.
In their 24-year history, The Celebrants have ministered in all 50 states, throughout Canada and in more than 90 nations around the world. They have sung to more than six million people in live concerts and countless more via broadcast media. Recent international outreaches have included the Middle Eastern nations of Turkey, Armenia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Korea, Australia, India, Estonia, Hungary, and Slovenia.
During 2002, seven teams of Celebrant Singers will present more than 1,400 concerts in 15 nations, seven Canadian provinces, and all the United States. The group is ecumenical in nature. Teams are composed of dedicated and talented young adults representing 38 states, six Canadian provinces and several additional nations.
While similar groups traditionally have had an exclusively Protestant audience, Celebrants is the full-time contemporary Christian singing group to also have a widespread ministry among Americanâs 60 million Catholics. Since 1977, the group has sung in more than 4,000 parishes throughout North America.
In addition to live appearances, Celebrant Singers have released 13 recordings, including cassettes and CDs in Spanish and French. The group is an outreach of Stone Ministries, Inc, a nonprofit Christian corporation ministering to the needs of people through music and the arts.
Founder and director Jon Stemkowski is the driving force behind the dynamic ministry from Visalia, Calif. Mr Stemkowski has more than 25 years experience in music ministry and is a highly respected minister of the Gospel.
The concert will be at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, and is free of charge. A free-will offering will be taken.
