Columbia And Hall-Brooke

Sign Affiliation Agreement

NEW YORK — Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons, of New York City and Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services of Westport, a wholly owned subsidiary of St Vincent’s Health Services, have signed an affiliation agreement.

The affiliation between Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services and Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry was formally announced at the first annual dinner meeting of Hall-Brooke’s Board of Directors, held recently in Westport, according to Stephen P. Fahey of Newtown, Hall-Brooke’s president and chief executive officer.

A joint announcement of the agreement was made by Mr Fahey and John M. Oldham, MD, acting chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr Oldham also currently serves as director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute and chief medical officer of the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Mr Fahey said the affiliation agreement “opens a new era in behavioral health services at Hall-Brooke and for the entire region. Along with the construction of our new building, the affiliation agreement will help us to become the premiere mission-driven psychiatric facility in Fairfield County.”

He said that Hall-Brooke is widely recognized for its treatment of depression, addiction, and alcoholism. He said the affiliation will also help Hall-Brooke to intensify its community outreach and informational programs to help families identify and cope with issues and problems related to psychiatric illness.
