Renee Bacal Keane, 76, longtime Westport resident who retired to Florida, died June 21, in Fairfax, Va. The cause of death was a brain injury resulting from a fall.

Her husband George Keane; her children Jeffrey and Nancy Shwartz of Newtown, Robbin and Gary Golas of Trumbull, and Joshua and Abby Kane of Manhattan; three stepchildren Brian Keane of Monroe, Geoffrey Keane of Stratford, and Sheila Keane and Valerie of Lismore, Australia; her brother Joe Bacal, and wife Anne, of Manhattan; and eight grandchildren survive Mrs Keane. One grandson, Maximillian, predeceased her.

A popular real estate agent in Westport for more than a decade, she later worked for 14 years as national meeting coordinator for The Common Fund, a service organization that assisted nearly 1,000 colleges and universities nationwide in the management of their endowments. She and her husband retired and moved to University Park Florida in 1997, but continued to spend summers in Connecticut with their children and grandchildren.

A memorial service took place June 24, at the Westport Unitarian Universalist Church.
