What Newtown Sports Is All About

To the Editor:

Whew! What a season! As parents of an 11-year-old player in the Newtown Little League and new residents of Newtown as of last year, we wanted to issue a warm, appreciative letter of thanks to all those involved in the Newtown Little League.

We cannot express enough gratitude to the leaders, the coaches, the parents and, most of all, the most wonderful, inspirational, supportive group of kids that we have ever had the chance to get to know. It has been heartwarming to watch our children develop and grow in this place and we have learned many life lessons watching our son Joseph compete with these fantastic kids (and our daughter playing with all their siblings). It was amazing to watch these kids work together, improve as teams, and combine their competitiveness with the beauty of congratulating each other’s achievements (while they’re in the heat of combat!).

It really displayed what Newtown sports and true friendship is all about. Trust us when we say, we have lived in other places (and probably will again...), but Newtown is a special place and we are proud to be part of the community and truly awed by the commitment of all those involved. To everyone associated with the league, thank you for what you have done for our family.
