Parade Committee Seeks Former Parade Officials

The Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee is seeking to honor and recognize the many individuals who have had a hand in the success of the annual event for the past half century, said committee member Steve Bigham. “We’re making an effort to reach out to those who were grand marshals in the previous 49 parades, as well as those who have been parade organizers over the years,” said Mr Bigham.

Of course, many of those who were involved in the early years of the parade have passed away, said Mr Bigham. The committee would like to extend an invitation to any of the former grand marshals and organizers who remain in the area to march or ride in the 50th anniversary Labor Parade this September 5. In order to do so, the committee is in need of contact information.
