Connecticut Soldier Laid

To Rest

HARTFORD (AP) —  A 20-year-old Connecticut native who was killed in Afghanistan has been laid to rest.

Army Pfc Eric Soufrine of Woodbridge was two weeks away from completing his tour of duty when he was killed Tuesday. Military officials say he was riding in a vehicle when it struck an improvised explosive device.

Pfc Soufrine’s funeral took place Sunday in Hamden and he was buried in New Haven.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, near Colorado Springs, Colo.
