Loving And Caring
Antoinette âToniâ Octavio Gigliotti, 94, died June 16, in Southbury, where she has resided at The Hearth Assisted Living since 2007. Previously, she had lived for 64 years in New Canaan.
She was the much beloved wife of the late Achilles âCharlieâ Gigliotti, and mother of Lynda Cox of Newtown. Her son-in-law Robert Cox, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, three sisters, and seven nieces and nephews also survive Mrs Gigliotti. Her parents and two sisters predeceased her.
Mrs Gigliotti was an active member of the St Aloysius Catholic Church parish. She was honored for her long and faithful service by the Catholic Daughters of America in 1957. Prior to her return to the work force, Mrs Gigliotti lovingly cared daily for her multiply disabled niece, Mary Louise, for five years, so that her parents could pursue their educational careers.
After retirement as an executive legal secretary, Mrs Gigliotti and her husband divided their time between their homes in New Canaan and Bass River on Cape Cod. While retired, Mrs. Gigliotti pursued her lifelong artistic talents, and painted and won several awards and honors for her work. A talented dressmaker and designer, quilter, and oil colorist, she practiced her art into her late 80s.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place June 21. Burial was private, at St Peterâs Cemetery in Danbury.
Memorial donations may be made to VNA Health Care, Hospice, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury CT 06708. Arrangements were by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
