“When Marcus decided to join the track team this spring, I knew that he would help the team tremendously. I did not realize how much he would embrace the sport … and how it would embrace him. He brought such a positive attitude and blended right in with all the rest from a teammate perspective. I also did not realize the competitive fire that burns within him. It is kind of funny that everyone talks about his talent, but I think his competitive desire sets him apart more than anything else. Overall, Marcus is just a nice kid, fun, positive, polite, and nice to those around him. Also, the sport embraced him. After our first meet, his times spread throughout the conference and by the second or third dual meet, everything would stop when he ran. I have never before seen athletes from other teams running to the finish line to see what time someone on another team ran. At Masuk, when he ran 47.9 in the 400, I thought the finish line officials were going to get trampled by everyone running over. The excitement he brings to whatever he does is absolutely contagious.” – NHS assistant track coach Dave Foss
