Warrant Arrest
As he was finishing his jail sentence on a conviction for first degree reckless endangerment, Newtown police on June 22 served an arrest warrant against Gregory Petro, 27, of Watertown at the Brooklyn Correctional Institution in eastern Connecticut.
Newtown police charged Petro with second degree failure to appear in court, speeding, driving under the influence, reckless driving, evading responsibility, and disobeying a police officerâs signal.
Those charges stem from an incident last September 13 on Glen Road in Sandy Hook.
Police held Petro on $10,000 bail for a June 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
SUV Off Road
About 4:07 pm June 21, Kamran Farzan, 62, of 57 Eden Hill Road was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer westward near 9 Castle Meadow Road, when the vehicle went out of control, sideswiped a large tree and then displaced a large amount of soil from alongside the road, police said.
Farzan was not injured, according to police. Farzan received an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
South Main Crash
Motorist Nancy Cedor, 47, of 25 Moccasin Trail, who was driving a 2003 Nissan X-Terra sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street about 10 am June 22, stopped for a red traffic signal near 228 South Main Street, police said.
Northbound motorist Kevin Fraser, 22, of Southbury, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, then drove into the rear end of the Nissan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Fraser an infraction ticket for following too closely.
