Douglas P. Dauz
Douglas P. Dauz, 52, husband of Nancy (Palladine) Dauz of Sandy Hook, died June 15 in Norwalk Hospital.
Mr Dauz was born in Queens, N.Y., on January 17, 1953, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Inderato) Dauz. He grew up in Bayside, N.Y., where he attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Bayside High School. Doug was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and did graduate work at New York University.
For the past 30 years, Mr Dauz was a physical education teacher at Coleytown Middle School in Westport. He was an advocate for the physically challenged and had been a longtime coach for the Cerebral Palsy Olympics.
Doug loved to work in the outdoors and was an accomplished stonemason. He had a passion for his yellow boxer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Zaachery and Jacob Dauz, both of Sandy Hook; one brother, Steven Dauz of Hicksville, N.Y.; one sister, Diane Bassin of Manhattan, N.Y.; an aunt, Sandra Andinolfi of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; his best friend, Scott Alvarez of Oakland, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 21, in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
