KRISTI REGAN

Occupation: I am a mom first. I work as an educational assistant at Head o’ Meadow in the math department three days a week. I earned my business degree at Central Michigan University, after which I worked in the banking industry.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for three years in August. I lived in Paris, France for four and a half years when my husband was there with Union Carbide. We put our boys in French schools and did the whole French thing. I also lived in New Jersey, Texas, North Carolina, and California. I was born and raised in Michigan.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: The accelerated growth in the tax rate.

Family: My husband, Jim, and I have been married for 21 years. We have two boys, Matthew, 18, who just graduated from Newtown High School and will be attending Wooster Polytechnic Institute in the fall, and Kevin, 13, who attends the Middle School.

Hobbies: Golf and more golf. I also like reading, cooking, and traveling.

Favorite Books and Authors: I enjoyed reading The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, and just finished reading Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigini. I also like books by James Patterson. My dad and I share those books back and forth, as well as books by Steven Hunter.

Favorite TV Show: CSI and The Practice. I don’t get to watch TV as much as I would like.

Organizations: Newtown Newcomers. I was co-president this year and will be chairman of the social committee next year. I also belong to WIN (Women Involved in Newtown) and school PTAs. I am a member of the Blue and Gold Club at the high school that raises funds for sports programs. I am a member of the Christian Science church in Ridgefield.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: Watching my son Matt break the shot put record at the Southwestern Conference Championship with a throw of 49 feet, 7½ inches.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in northern Michigan. My family has a cottage on Lake Michigan, and we all make it a point to get there together once a year.

Personal Philosophy: To be happy and keep a positive attitude and see the good in everyone.
