When the doors at Reed Intermediate School open on July 9, at 9 am, it will be the 41st time the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Book Sale has been held in town to sell gently used and new books, and other items. More than 120,000 books CDs, DVDs and LPs will be offered

Friends of the C.H. Booth Library is a nonprofit group that supports the library. Each year its members and other volunteers work to set up tables in the gymnasium, cafetorium and other rooms at Reed School, 3 Trades Lane. The event also represents hours of volunteer effort throughout the year to collect and sort the items.

This year's annual book sale runs from Saturday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 13.

Opening day will have a $5 admission, with free admission for those 18 and younger. Numbered admission tickets will go on sale at 7 that morning. Admission to the book sale is charged only on Saturday.

On Saturday and Sunday, the sale will run from 9 am until 5 pm.

Hours on Monday and Tuesday are 9 am until 7 pm; and Wednesday, 9 am until noon.

On Monday, all items will be half-price; Tuesday will be $5 for a bag of items; and on Wednesday, everything remaining will be free.

Many have contributed to this year's book sale.

In the display case near the book sorting room at the library is a collection of books and other items.

"Dear Newtown," a letter in the display reads, "Thank you for the remarkable array of gently used and new books and gift items you've donated year after year in support of our beloved library. For fun, we thought we'd share some of the more unique items we've received this year. Gratefully, The Friends of the C. H. Booth Library. P.S. See you at the sale starting July 9."

Another letter, offering information about the Little Book Store, which is located on the library's main level and offers bargain-priced gently used and new books for sale throughout the year, is also displayed.
