Former Babe Ruth League Commissioner
Walter A. Baranowsky, 90, of Milford, beloved husband of 65 years to Mildred Venezia Baranowsky, died June 13 at Golden Hill Health Care Center in Milford. Son of George and Walerya Dolengewicz Baranowsky, he was born on February 15, 1916, in Bridgeport.
In addition to his wife, Mr Baranowsky leaves a daughter, Joann Haines of Newtown; a son, Patrick W. Baranowsky of North Bethesda, Md.; four grandchildren, Patrick W. Baranowsky II, Derrick A. Baranowsky, Morgan Haines, and Kelley Haines; and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Erin, and Lauren Baranowsky.
He worked for Northeast Utilities for 25 years before his retirement. During the Great Depression he worked with the Connecticut Conservation Corps helping establish Chatfield Hollow State Park. He also served as commissioner of the Milford Babe Ruth League for many years, was active in local sports activities including golf and tennis, and was a member of the 70+ Ski Club.
There will be no calling hours. Service and committal will be private. Arrangements were in care of Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford.
