BASE Technologies and Ryder Financial each won their first two playoff games to jump into the winner’s bracket in Babe Ruth League U11 action. BASE Technologies, the regular-season league champion with a 9-4 record, upended Westport Worldwide, 5-1, and PC Metals, 4-0. PC Metals bounced back to beat Lee J. Demers Monday to stay alive in the loser’s bracket. MasterCard also advanced in the loser’s bracket by eliminating Westport Worldwide. Here are some of the playoff highlights …

PC Metals 6, Lee J. Demers, Builder 4 – Trailing 3-0, PC Metals rallied for five third-inning runs en route to victory. A double by Riley Wurtz and a homerun by Gary Braun were the key hits for PC. Wurtz also slapped two singles, the only other hits in the game for the victors. Braun picked up the save in relief. For Demers, Kyle Wilcox singled three times as Troy Larsen singled, doubled and yielded only one hit in two innings of relief pitching. Dean Demers hurled two shutout innings, finishing the season with a team-low 2.25 earned run average while also scoring a team-leading 18th run for the season.

Ryder Financial 6, Lee J. Demers, Builder 5 – Andrew Kelley stole home on a throw back to the pitcher with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Ryder Financial to the win. Nick Barreto delivered three singles and Sean Dardine doubled over third base to power Ryder. Ryan Daignault and Stephen Conway dropped bunt singles in the last inning to key the comeback victory. Lee J. Demers was led by Chad Magoulas, who smacked two doubles, and Ben Stoller, who doubled in Magoulas to tie the game in the fifth inning.

Fairfield County Irrigation Systems 15, Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital 7 – Andy Braun tripled and scored three runs while Nick Eisele singled sharply and scored a run to lead FCIS. Bobby Archiere, Logan Walsh, Stephen Grasso, Connor LeMay and Jason Ferrari each scored two runs. Darryl Silverlieb went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored to power Mount Pleasant. Forest Speed was 2-for-2 with a double and pitched two solid innings. Robby Lasher pitched two solid innings and had a good day at the plate with a run scored and two RBIs.

Mobil 1 Lube Express 6, BW Retail Real Estate 6 – Strong pitching by Adam Israel, Jacob Burden, Jack Lago and Julian Dunn battled the BW hitters most of the day while Sawyer Conrad, Travis Audet and Max Rucinski hit well for the Mobil 1 offense.

Mobil 1 Lube Express 6, Dental Associates – Three is a charm as Mobil 1 Lube Express finally defeated Dental Associates, 6-5. Devon Palilla did a great job in his pitching debut while Michael Cooke and Sawyer Conrad played exceptionally well on both sides of the plate.

Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital 12, Mobil 1 Lube Express 10 – Mt. Pleasant proved to be too much for Mobil 1 defeating them 12-10. Both teams played well in a seesaw battle with Shane Quimby, Julian Dunn, Devon Palilla and Max Rucinski all hitting the ball well for Mobil 1.

Taunton Press 13, Associated Refuse 12 – Ryan Rosenberger hit a bases loaded triple to lead the Taunton offense. Matt Lindell and Nate Steinebray each scored two runs as Anthony Venezia and Lane Kummer played well in the field. For Associated Refuse, Colton Smith scored three runs and Will Swain added two while Nehar Patel, Nick Cirone and Jack Corbett each had two hits apiece. Bobby Lydon also contributed two RBIs for Associated.

Fairfield County Irrigation Systems 15, Equale & Cirone 8 – A seven-run rally in the top of the fourth broke open a tied game and led FCIS to the U9 division championship. Colin Morrissey had a two run RBI in the first inning to start the scoring as Morrissey, Nick Eisele and Connor Lemay each scored a run. Andy Braun and Stephen Grasso scored three runs each while Bobby Archiere, Logan Walsh and Jason Ferrari scored two runs apiece while. Braun closed out the game striking out the side.

Stormtroopers 4, Turner Construction 2 – Matt Perun had two hits and both Turner RBI. Conner Flint threw a shutout inning and Tim Mammen was solid behind the plate.

Turner Construction 7, Hocon Gas 6 – Ryan King belted three hits while Keaton McCleary had two hits and two runs scored to lead Turner. Julia Monaco contributed with two hits while McCleary and James Frazzetta pitched well.

Carminuccio’s 5, Turner Construction 2 – Jake Courchene-Roy stroked three hits and Ryan Conway had two hits to lead Turner. Courchene-Roy, Joey Carino and Matt Perun all turned in sparkling defensive plays. Holden Turk, Shawn McCarthy, Andrew Svanda and Curtis Giles sparked Carminuccio’s.

Dina 9, Hawks 2 – Griffen Davis, Jacob Hill and Spencer Tolson banged out three hits apiece (two of those were triples for Davis) as Dina rolled to the win. Kate Laaksonen made two great plays in the field. Sam Czel, Luke Rustici and Michael Poulter had key hits for the Hawks.

Dina 6, Turner 6 – Spencer Tolson belted a two-run double and Matt Elias banged out a two-run single to lead the Dina offense.. Down 6-3 in the last inning, Stephen Brittin of Dina singled, Kate Laaksonen singled and then Elias singled in Brittin and Laaksonen. Finally, Jacob Hill singled in Elias with the tying run.

Dina 7, Global Solutions 6 – Evan Saravis doubled twice while Jack Procaccini, Matt Elias and Stephen Brittin each singled twice to lead Dina. Andrew Cragin belted a two-run home run to centerfield. For the Global Search, David Mathews cracked a grand slam homer as Curtis Williamson, Tyler Dullinger and Kyle McGrath hit the ball well.

Dina 6, Hocon Gas 6 – Jacob Hill went 2-for-3 while Spencer Tolson, Matt Elias and Jake Procaccini pitched well for Dina. For Hocon, Liam Palilla, Zach Aumueller and John Delrossi pitched a great game. Micheal Dutsar, David Anderson, and Trevor Lopez all had key hits.
