Thanks From The Band Parents

To The Editor:

As the president of the Newtown High School Band Parents, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the community’s support of our perpetual bottle and can drive that will be ending Friday, June 23. We have had a great run thanks the tireless work of Larry and Linda Whippie, Charlie and Jan Huot, and John Krause in recent years. These folks were preceded by Chet Janutolo, Andy Foote, and so many other dedicated band parents that literally raised tens of thousands of dollars, one nickel at a time, for a great program.

I would also like to thank the cooperative staff at the town transfer station for giving us space for all these years. Thanks to Newtown Hardware who continues to the very end to be a satellite collection center for us. 

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention David Friebel of World of Wine & Spirits for willingly taking thousands of glass bottles here in town and saving us the extra expense of carting them to the redemption center in Wolcott.

Rest assured the Band and Color Guard Program will continue to be the pride of Newtown performing and competing regionally and throughout the Northeast beginning with our first performance at the Labor Day Parade.
