Martins Nominated

For Teacher Of The Year

Heather Lynn Martins, formerly of Sandy Hook, was nominated Teacher of the Year 2006 by the Fairfax (Va.) Public Schools from among 9,000-plus teachers in Fairfax County. She was also nominated by The Washington Post for the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award.

Ms Martins is the lead teacher for the fourth grade classes and the lead teacher for the Social Studies Program at Beech Tree Elementary School in Fairfax County, Va. She earned her master’s of education at the University of Bridgeport.

She is the daughter of Ray and Linda Martins of Sandy Hook.
