Devoted To Family
Margaret J. âPegâ Grey, 86, formerly of Newtown, died June 15 at Brighton Gardens in Greenville, S.C. She was born in Gladstone, N.J., on November 19, 1919, a daughter of Ida and Lloyd Teets.
Mrs Grey is survived by her devoted husband, Dick, of Greenville, S.C.; and her children, Barbara Dorry and husband, Edward, of Sandy Hook, Aubrey Grey and wife, Ruth, of Westlake Village, Calif., and Margaret Grey and husband, Michael Lauterbach of Hamden. She is also survived by four grandsons, Brandon Dorry of Newtown, Andrew and Paul Grey of Los Angeles, and Christian Dorry and wife, Dawn Marks Dorry, of Baltimore, Md. Two sisters, Elizabeth Haney and Virginia Price survive Mrs Grey; as do several nieces and nephews, including Gwynne Gilbert of Clarks Summit, Penn.
She married Richard A. âDickâ Grey on May 23, 1941. After his return from serving two years in Europe during World War II, they made their home in Easton, Penn., before moving to Connecticut in 1970. Mrs Greyâs home and her husband and children were the joys of her life.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Valley Fuel in Phillipsburg, N.J., and for Photronic Labs in Connecticut. She enjoyed all kinds of needlecrafts and collected cookbooks, thimbles, and stamps. She and her husband were avid racecar fans starting with stock cars in Nazareth, Penn., to NASCAR in later years.
The Greys moved to Greenville, S.C., 15 years ago and found wonderful friends and loving support from their church community.
Contributions may be made in Mrs Greyâs memory to the Augusta Road United Methodist Church, 8324 Augusta Road, Pelzer SC 29669.
