Help Is As Close As 211

Everyone knows to call 911 in an emergency, but is everyone aware of the number to call when they are being evicted from their apartment… looking for affordable child care… needing help in finding a support group… or where to go if they are just looking to volunteer their time or donate items to people in need?

In Connecticut, people can call 211. This easy, 3-digit number connects a caller to 211, a statewide, help-by-telephone service that provides information, community referrals and crisis intervention. It’s a simple way to give or get help 24 hours a day seven days a week at no cost.

Calls are answered by trained specialists who, by using a comprehensive database of community services, connects the caller to the service or organization that can best suit their needs.

Last year, 211 received more than 335,000 calls from Connecticut residents.

Infoline/211 is a free and confidential way to locate hundreds of services available in the community. Multilingual call specialists are available.

Infoline is a partnership of Connecticut United Ways and the State of Connecticut for additional information call 860-571-7500 or visit CTUnitedWay.org or 211infoline.org.
