Help Honor Newtownâs
Persian Gulf War Veterans
To the Editor:
The Persian Gulf War Memorial Committee has been working very hard to assemble the names of the Newtown men and women who served in and were part of the Persian Gulf War. It is the goal of our committee to create a memorial plaque for these men and women to be placed at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the head of Main Street. We felt that this is an important and fitting addition to the military history of Newtown. We have met with the Borough Board of Burgesses and they support our efforts.
At this point in time, we have gathered the names of a number of Newtowners who should be commemorated on the plaque and we rare in the process of double checking and triple checking names to make certain that our list is all inclusive. We are looking for confirmation of the following names â Bill Evans, Brian Wade (Banks), Kenneth Godfrey, David Giovanetti, Stephen Hannah, Robert Knapp, Robert Killing, John Klewicki, Wayne Kobrack, John Kepler, Brian Leavitt, Michael Lynch, Jimmy Mead, Sean Mulvany, Donald Sturges, Brian Hayward, John Joseph Swart, Marjorie Stephenson, Darrick Waller. Proof of residence would be DD214 form, proof of a Commemorative Medal or Service Ribbon.
If you or anyone you know has confirming information about these people or any other people from Newtown who served in this conflict, please call me at 426-9582 or write to me at 26 South Main Street, Newtown. Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours,
Michael Hurley
