Evading Responsibility
Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident in which a pickup truck driver collided with some steel-cable guardrailing along South Main Street and then drove off, evading responsibility for the accident.
Police said that sometime during the evening of June 10, the driver of a red GMC pickup truck, which had a ladder rack attached to it, was traveling northward on South Main Street when the truck veered to the right side of the road and struck the guard cabling near Homestead Lane. The truck then drove away from the scene. Homestead Lane is across South Main Street from Sand Hill Plaza.
The pickup truck was later found abandoned on Hawleyville Road, near Interstate 84, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the driver to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
DUI Arrest
Police report that they saw motorist Robert Robson, 60, of Danbury using the incorrect travel lane and driving over the roadâs centerline after he turned right from northbound Queen Street onto eastbound Church Hill Road at about 2 am June 18.
Police said they stopped Robson to investigate and then charged him with driving under the influence and with a travel lane violation.
After arrest processing, police released Robson on $200 bail for a July 5 court appearance.
DUI Incident
Police said that after they saw motorist Stephen Lescrynski, 59, of 27 Pocono Road fail to keep to the right on South Main Street at about 2 am June 18, they stopped him to investigate.
Police said they charged Lescrynski with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving while under suspension.
After posting $50 bail, police released Lescrynski for a July 5 court appearance.
Suspension
After it was learned that he was driving while his license was under suspension, police said they stopped motorist Brendon Mallon, 25, of New Milford at about 6:30 pm June 18 on Church Hill Road.
Police said they charged Mallon with driving while under suspension. After he posted $100 bail, police released Mallon for a July 6 court appearance.
Moving Violations
Police report they spotted motorist Rhonda Brown Nesmith, 42, of Danbury driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant northward on South Main Street at about 1:40 am June 17, without her rear marker plate illuminated, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police charged Nesmith with failure to illuminate a rear marker plate, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, failure to have automotive insurance, and driving without a license.
After processing, police released Nesmith on a written promise to appear in court on July 6.
Burglary/Larceny
On June 17, police served a warrant against David Dupuis, 40, of 122 Riverside Road, Sandy Hook, charging him with third degree larceny, third degree burglary, and possession of narcotics.
The larceny and burglary charges are felonies. Third degree larceny involves the theft of items worth between $1,000 and $5,000.
Police said Dupuis allegedly illegally entered a Round Hill Road home in the Riverside section last October 4 and stole multiple items from the premises.
Police held Dupuis in the police station lockup on $15,000 bail for a June 19 court arraignment.
DUI Arrest
Police report they spotted motorist Cirilo Perez, 28, of Waterbury driving a 1995 Geo Tracker southward on Main Street at about 1:34 am June 18, which then turned left onto eastbound Church Hill Road without using a turn signal and without keeping to the right of the Main Street flagpole.
Police stopped Perez to investigate. Perez was then arrested on charges of driving under the influence, failure to use a turn signal, traveling in the improper direction at a traffic rotary, and driving without a license.
Perez posted $100 bail and was released for a July 5 court appearance.
Wasserman Way
Police report a two-car collision on Wasserman Way, at that roadâs intersection with the Exit 11 ramps of Interstate 84 at about 12:54 pm June 9.
Motorist Mavis Davis Hart, 79, of 11 Stone Gate Drive, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza station wagon westward on Wasserman Way, stopped at a red traffic signal, police said.
Westbound motorist Juli Pressmar, 18, of 16 Jeremiah Road, who was driving a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, then struck the rear end of the Subaru, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Pressmar a written warning for following too closely.
Wires Down
About 4:37 pm June 14, tractor-trailer truck driver Roch Beaudin, 49, of Sabrevois, Quebec, Canada, who was driving a 1998 Volvo truck, was making a right turn from Key Rock Road onto westbound Route 302, when the top of the truckâs trailer snagged some low-hanging utility lines, police said.
The lines broke away from a utility pole and fell to the ground, police said. The trailer is 13 feet, 4 inches tall. Beaudin stopped and waited for police to arrive. Police took no enforcement.
Dodgingtown firefighters went to the incident. The problem caused travel delays and detours in the area while repairs were underway.
I-84 DUI
State police said they charged a man with driving under the influence after he caused a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 on the night of June 15.
State police said motorist Brian J. Moura, 21, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1995 Buick Riviera eastward on I-84 between Exits 10 and 11, struck the rear end of a Ford Ranger pickup truck about 9:08 pm, which caused the truck to spin around and then roll over.
The driver of a Saturn Vue SUV who saw the accident occurring sought to avoid a collision with the Buick and the Ford and then took evasive action, resulting in the Saturn crashing into some bushes on the highway median, state police said. Sandy Hook firefighters went to the accident.
There were no injuries in the accident, state police said. State police arrested Moura on charges of driving under the influence and making an unsafe lane change. He posted $500 bail and is scheduled to appear June 26 in Danbury Superior Court.
Highway Crash
About 9:30 pm June 17, motorist Mark Gregoire, 44, of 7 Rockywood Drive, who was driving a 1996 Range Rover Discovery westward on Interstate 84, near the Exit 10 interchange, struck a westbound tractor-trailer truck driven by Warren A. Wilson, III, 40, of Lakeland, Fla., state police said. There were no injuries. State police said Gregoire made a restricted turn.

Nissan Vs Mazda
Police report a two-car accident at the hazardous intersection of Schoolhouse Hill Road and Walnut Tree Hill Road about 6:35 pm June 13.
Police said motorist Renee Buehner, 30, of New Milford, who was driving a 1998 Nissan, was attempting to turn left from Schoolhouse Hill Road onto northbound Walnut Tree Hill Road, when she collided with 1997 Mazda driven by Darcy Bunting, 35, of Southbury, which was traveling southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road.
There were no injuries. Police issued Buehner a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Three Violations
About 4 pm June 19, police stopped motorist Alfred M. Signore, III, of Waterbury on Route 25 because the vehicle that he was driving had no front marker plate.
After investigating, police charged Signore with failure to display a marker plate, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and failure to have automotive insurance.
After processing, Signore was released on a promise to appear in court on July 6.
Four Charges
Police report they charged Victor Alvarado, 21, of Waterbury on a warrant on June 20, arresting him on four violations stemming from a November 2005 incident.
Police said they charged Alvarado with second-degree failure to appear in court, failure to drive in the established lane, driving while under suspension, and failure to have automotive insurance.
After processing the case, police released Alvarado on $500 bail for a July 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Church Hill Crash
Motorist Karen Blawie, 49, of 42 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee westward on Church Hill Road about 10:19 am June 15, slowed to turn right into a driveway at 47 Church Hill Road and was struck from behind by motorist Susan Mouchantat, 42, of 22 Underhill Road, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Mouchantat a written warning for following too closely.
Volvo Vs Honda
Police said motorist Erica Vacaro, 17, of 18 The Boulevard, who was driving a 1992 Honda Accord sedan, was stopped for traffic on westbound Church Hill Road about 2:13 pm June 15, when motorist Kelly McQuail, 16, of 25 Queen Street, who was driving a 1988 Volvo 240 station wagon, turned left from Washington Avenue onto Church Hill Road and struck the Honda from behind.
There were no injuries. Police issued McQuail a written warning for following too closely.
