Dedication Of Revolutionary

Route Marker Planned

DANBURY — The public is invited to join members of Danbury Museum & Historical Society for the unveiling and dedication of the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route marker in Danbury.

The dedication is planned for Saturday, July 1, at 1 pm, at the museum, 43 Main Street.

The ceremony will be a continuation of the celebration of the 225th anniversary of General Rochambeau’s march through Connecticut on his way to join the Continental Army. Rochambeau’s route as he traveled from Rhode Island to Virginia after joining the Continental Army in New York has been recently declared of great historical significance by Congress, and dedications are being held throughout Connecticut in order to commemorate the French contribution to this country’s independence.

A reception held in the historic 1785 Rider House, also on Main Street, will follow the dedication.

Call 743-5200 or visit DanburyHistorical.org for additional information.
