Allen F. Flouton

Former Advertising Executive

Allen F. Flouton, 91, of Newtown, husband of the late Ella (Thayer) Flouton, died at his residence on June 29. Mr Flouton was born in Kansas City, Mo., June 12, 1915, a son of Allen B. and Edna Thayer Flouton.

He moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., as a boy and was a graduate of Boys High School in Brooklyn; Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., Class of 1936; and, in 1937, Amos Tuck School of Business in Hanover. As a captain in the US Army, he served as a Pentagon procurement and information officer from 1952 until 1956.

Mr Flouton had worked for many years as an advertising executive at Compton Advertising in New York, Chicago, London, and other European branches and had served as vice chairman of the board. He also served as president of Friendly Wood Gatineau, Ltd, Canada, a saw mill and cedar products company; was president of Marketing Lab, Inc, a market research and advertising company; and as a director of Lorad Corporation, manufacturer of breast cancer detection and diagnostic products.

He also served as president of The Connecticut Digestive Disease Society, consultant to Danbury Hospital Rehabilitation Unit, director of Dr Michael Lepore’s Digestive Disease Foundation, treasurer of Newtown Forest Association, and vice president of Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jane Hermann of Ocala, Fla., and dear friend and caregiver, Gloria Barry of Danbury. He was predeceased by his wife, his son, David A. Flouton, and a brother, Robert V. Flouton.

Funeral services with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y., will be private. There will be no calling hours.

Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
