Jane I. (Conley) Kiely, longtime Newtown resident and wife of the late Reed Lucien Kiely, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 18. Jane was born in Jackson, Mich., on May 10, 1929, the daughter of George Gayle Conley and Treva Mary (Hart) Conley, and sister to Janice (Conley) Palmer.

After she and Reed moved their family to Newtown in 1965, Jane worked for many years in the Newtown school system in various positions that included tutoring at the elementary and middle school levels and working as the administrative assistant to the Director of Pupil Services before retiring in the late 1990s.

She leaves behind her beloved children and spouses, Roderic Reed Kiely and Randi, Michelle Marie Burghoffer and Leo, and Scott David Kiely and Susan; and her beloved grandchildren Roderic Allen Kiely and Luara, Christopher Reed Kiely and Alison, Samuel Reed Burghoffer, and Marne Laine Carmichael and Dane.

In the interest of the simplicity that Jane desired, there will be no formal services.
