RIDGEFIELD - It was no surprise to members of Team 26 - a group of bicyclers who have cycled from Newtown to Washington, D.C., three times, to support legislation to prevent gun violence - that Senator Chris Murphy took to the floor of the Senate last week to press Congress to act to curb gun violence. Sen Murphy and the entire Connecticut congressional delegation met the cyclists at the end of their 400-mile ride from Newtown to the Capitol in Washington in April.91%: A Film About Guns in America.ridgefieldplayhouse.org or by calling 203-438-5795. Tickets will also be available at the door.

A film of this year's journey will be screened at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, June 30, at 7 pm. It will be followed by a screening of

The Team 26 film was made by Newtown-based filmmaker Sue Roman.

"They rode through nasty weather, over 100 miles a day, and met with victims of gun violence and advocates of change all along the route," said Ms Roman. "It is inspiring how they bring people together to take on this difficult issue."

The evening's second film shows how Americans almost unanimously support both Second Amendment rights and common sense gun legislation. The number 91 refers to the 2013 poll that revealed that in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, 91 percent of Americans supported comprehensive background checks on gun sales.

The film finds a shared language between citizens on both sides of the issue, encouraging them to move common-sense policy forward by speaking up in a conversation typically dominated by firearm lobbyists and manufacturers.

Following the films there will be a Q&A moderated by Team 26 leader Monte Frank. The films, said Mr Frank, demonstrate "that Americans of all races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds are demanding action from our legislators."

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance online at

Proceeds from ticket sales will support the next ride of Team 26.

Ridgefield Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge, one block east of Main Street (Route 35) in Ridgefield.
