Unlimited Playoff Success For Aâs
The Landscaping Unlimited Athletics, a 10 year old baseball team, capped off a 5-6 season with a dramatic three game sweep in the playoff series to win the championship, on June 15. The Synchronicity Braves fought to the end in the championship game, but they couldnât catch the Aâs who went on to win 7-5.
The Championship game was filled with close calls, fine defensive plays, and clutch hitting. The Aâs wasted no time jumping off to an early lead in the first. Jack Kneski and Jordon Fulton led off the game with singles and Luke Barrett got the first run in with sacrifice. In the bottom of the first the Braves answered right back, Gavin Connors singled, and James Tibolla singled to bring in a run. Tyler Fuori doubled but a runner was stranded at third by a good defensive play by Patrick Hurley. Kyle Nicholson and Trevor Tyrell both struck out the side in their half of the second inning.
In the third three straight singles by Barrett, Hurley, and Strolli scored two more runs. Trevor Tyrrellâs long RBI double brought the Braves to within one. The Braves loaded the bases, but Luke Barrett got the strikeout when he needed it to end the third inning.
The Aâs extended their lead in the forth with four more runs on no hits. Not being discouraged the Braves fought back. RBIs by Connors, Tibolla, and Fuori made the score 7-5. With one out and the bases loaded the Aâs switched pitchers and Patrick Hurley made quick work with a strikeout and a come-backer to the mound to end the threat.
In the fifth Tyler Fuori struck out two, and Patrick Hurley tallied three straight strikeouts. Fuori had three strike outs in the top of the sixth. With one out in the Bravesâ last at bat Gavin Connors singled to right, but two nice plays at second base locked down the Championship for the Aâs.
