Support Education With A Yes Vote

To the Editor:

I am writing to ask you to vote Yes for the current proposed budget. Throughout the process the Board of Education has collaborated to address the reductions to our requested budget. We have analyzed accounts and consulted with administrators to suggest reductions that would have a minimal impact on classroom instruction. In most cases, reductions were identified through savings in contract negotiations, efficiencies in current services, and through reduced enrollment. We continue to diligently examine accounts in order to find savings we can use to move the district forward, particularly with the addition of full-day kindergarten.

I believe we can achieve this through tightening our belts. I believe Newtown has an excellent school system and I believe we can continue to offer the same level of excellence to our students. Voting Yes can help us to turn our attention back to ensuring the best educational program will be in place for the coming school year. Please vote Yes and support us in this effort.
